Medical insurance when traveling is not only a good idea but also required for many international countries. Some USA medical insurance plans will cover needs for short visits or journeys outside of the country, but Nomadic or long-term travelers who do not have a traditional USA based plan, need to find other options for medical coverage. Given life after the COVID pandemic there are many more options for Nomad travelers than ever before; but you MUST read the fine print to determine if the medical coverage is right for you. The cheaper the plan, the less it will cover (more or less). Below are six very important questions to consider and ask a potential medical insurance provider.

1. Does it cover pre-existing conditions?

2. What is my most affordable deductible?

3. How much will they pay for emergency evacuation and repatriation?

4. Are there age limits?

5. How are pandemics treated?

6. Will it cover me if I return to the USA for any duration?
